Those who are out of work or suffering reduced income due to the COVID-19 outbreak will get a three-month credit on their residential B.C. Hydro bills, say Premier John Horgan and Energy Minister Bruce Ralston.

The credit will be calculated at three times their typical monthly bill — an average of $477 per customer.

B.C. Hydro has also stopped service disconnections for non-payment and cancelled planned power outages.

Residential customers will be able to apply for the credit by the end of next week.

Small businesses won’t have to pay their power bills for up to three months, from April to June.

Larger businesses can defer half their bills for three months. Both can apply starting April 14.

All B.C. Hydro customers are getting a one per cent reduction.
