No people were harmed but three boats and two 1970s vintage cars were destroyed in Cobble Hill on Monday when a garage burned up.

Capt. Chris McInerney of the Mill Bay Fire Department said the alarm came in just after 5 a.m. The department responded with two trucks and 15 firefighters.

But even with help from Shawnigan Lake Fire Department, the blaze could not be stopped before it consumed the contents of the garage. In the end, only cinder block walls remained.

Firefighters had finished mopping up the fire by 11:30 a.m.

No estimate of the damage costs was available Monday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
