A small rockfall closed the same section of highway in both directions on Sunday. The Transportation Ministry said crews were performing “preventative rock scaling” in the area Friday morning, but geotechnical engineers have confirmed that work was not related to the rockfall.
The ministry said it would be installing temporary roadside barriers on the shoulder in case any further material comes down.
