A suspected impaired driver was arrested by Saanich police Wednesday afternoon after a hit-and-run incident involving three parked vehicles.

At about 4:40 p.m., the driver was reported to have hit an occupied vehicle parked on Stevenson Place, off Finlayson Street, which left the person inside with non-life-threatening injuries. Two other parked vehicles were hit before the driver drove off in a badly damaged BMW SUV.

Five minutes after the vehicles were hit, the BMW was seen on the Patricia Bay Highway with one of its wheels destroyed.

Another caller said the BMW had stopped on Leaside Avenue, off Glanford Avenue.

The driver was arrested and is facing charges that include impaired operation of a motor vehicle, refusing to provide a breath sample, failing to remain at the scene of a collision and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The vehicle has been impounded for 90 days.
