Suspect arrested for stabbing at temporary housing facility

Victoria police arrested a woman after a stabbing at a multi-unit temporary housing facility on Saturday.

Patrol officers were called to the former hotel in the 100 block of Gorge Road East just after 11 a.m. after a report that bear spray had been used. They found a man who had been sprayed and stabbed several times.

The victim was transported to hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening.

Officers identified a female suspect and located her in a suite at the housing facility. She briefly barricaded herself within the suite before surrendering to officers.

She was transported to cells at the Victoria Police Department and was being held to await court.

Detectives with the Major Crime Unit continue to investigate.
