Sooke RCMP have released a composite sketch of a man involved in a sexual assault on Sept. 29 in hopes someone will be able to identify him.
About 2 p.m. on Sept. 29, a woman was walking on Sunriver Way near Phillips Road when she noticed a man walking behind her. She lost sight of him, but later encountered the man on a path by the Sooke River.
He spoke to the woman before revealing a weapon and sexually assaulting her. The woman fought back and escaped. Police said the suspect might have been injured in the process.
The suspect is described as being tanned or having darker skin, standing about five-foot-10 with dark, short- to medium-length hair and a full beard. The suspect was wearing a dark hoodie without drawstrings, dark blue jeans and running shoes.
