A man was arrested in Sooke this week after threatening workers with a 28-centimetre knife for taking too long to restore his power.

Sooke RCMP said the man was intoxicated and “expressed his displeasure” Tuesday at the length of time it was taking the workers to replace a utility pole and get power back to his Sooke Road home.

Charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats are being recommended.

“This incident was an unprovoked act of aggression against people working in our community and is an example of the unpredictable and often dangerous situations that our officers respond to,” said Sgt. Kevin Shaw. “Fortunately in this instance no one was hurt and the male was taken into custody safely.”
