The Strathcona Regional District has reopened several outdoor amenities, though many will remain closed for the time being.

Hagel Park tennis and basketball courts, the Blenkin Park tennis, basketball courts and skatepark and the Cortes Island basketball court and skatepark have reopened.

The facilities had been closed since March 23 to help limit the spread of COVID-19. They are being opened as part of the B.C. Restart Plan announced this month.

The Maple Park Community Garden has been reopened to members only, with enhanced safety protocols in place.

The community garden remains closed to the public.

The Strathcona Gardens Recreation Complex, Quadra Island Community Centre, regional campgrounds, playgrounds, outdoor fitness equipment, picnic shelters and water fountains throughout the region also remain closed.

The district expects to have these facilities open when they are advised that it is safe.

Residents are reminded to practise social distancing by staying at least two metres apart from other park users. The facilities will be routinely inspected and any social distancing violations observed will be addressed.
