A small fire broke out in a shop building at Cowichan Secondary School on Wednesday but was quickly controlled.
The fire was noticed by a staff member.
The Duncan Fire Department and North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP arrived just before 9 a.m. The blaze was contained to the building and the school was not evacuated.
Police are investigating the cause of the blaze. An estimate of the damage has not been determined.
