Skeletal remains found in downtown Nanaimo

Nanaimo RCMP say the skeletal remains of a human have been found in the city’s downtown, in a bushy area off Port Drive.

Const. Gary O’Brien said it is not yet known how long the remains had been there. He said a transit supervisor discovered them about 7 p.m. Monday.

A grid search of the area was done Tuesday in an effort to locate evidence.

O’Brien said foul play is not suspected but it can’t be ruled out since the investigation is preliminary.
