Saanich police are investigating a number of break-ins at Mount Tolmie Hospital, a long-term care home that is currently not occupied.

“It is very unusual that a premise would be the target of repeated property offences,” said Const. Markus Anastasiades.

Police said that the incidents at Mount Tolmie Hospital started over the August long weekend. They said it is believed that the people involved then returned during the week and again this past weekend, always breaking in overnight.

Tools and electronics were reported to have been taken, and there has also been general damage to the building.

The care home has been unoccupied since mid-July, when residents moved into the new Summit care facility on Hillside Avenue.

Anyone with information is asked to call Saanich police at 250-475-4321 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
