Seven escape mobile home fire on Songhees land

Seven people escaped uninjured from a fire in a mobile home Friday on Ned Williams Road on Songhees Nation land. View Royal Fire Chief Paul Hurst said the residents were being helped by emergency social services after the 8 a.m. blaze.

Seven people escaped uninjured from a fire in a mobile home Friday on Ned Williams Road on Songhees Nation land.

View Royal Fire Chief Paul Hurst said the residents were being helped by emergency social services after the 8 a.m. blaze.

Three pets also got out safely.

Hurst said the fire started in a bedroom and was caused by an electrical issue.

“The trailer is not habitable from fire and smoke damage,” he said.
