Sailboats readied for races from new Victoria International Marina

Boats are setting off from the new Victoria International Marina for the Melges 24 World Championship Regatta, which is being held from today to Saturday. The event features 43 24-foot racing yachts from Canada, the U.S.

Boats are setting off from the new Victoria International Marina for the Melges 24 World Championship Regatta, which is being held from today to Saturday. The event features 43 24-foot racing yachts from Canada, the U.S., Italy, Great Britain and Australia.

Sailboats launch from the marina each day for a harbour start at 9 a.m. and return between 4 and 5 p.m. Spectator viewing locations include Lime Bay Park, Saxe Point, Macaulay Point, Esquimalt Lagoon, Ogden Point and Clover Point. The Royal Victoria Yacht Club is hosting the regatta, which is the inaugural event for the newly built Victoria International Marina. More details at the Melges 24 website.
