Saanich police found more than $170,000 in cash, two stun batons and half a kilogram of drugs with a street value of about $81,000 at a Gordon Head home.

A 39-year-old Saanich man could face multiple criminal charges after police raided a Gordon Head house and found cash, stun batons and half a kilogram of street drugs.

The Saanich Police Street Crime Unit launched an investigation in late July after observing a man “acting suspiciously,” Sgt. Julie Fast said in a news release.

Officers eventually arrested the man during a traffic stop on July 31 and subsequently obtained a warrant to search his residence in the 1600 block of San Juan Avenue.

The search uncovered more than $170,000 in cash, two stun batons and half a kilogram of drugs with a street value of about $81,000, Fast said.

Police believe the drug stash includes cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and methamphetamine.

The suspect has been released from custody, but Fast said police will be recommending charges for drug trafficking and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
