Saanich police are warning residents about a cougar in the Cordova Bay area.

A resident contacted police Sunday night after a cougar was spotted in their yard, the department said in a statement. Police believe it’s the same cougar that was seen in the area two weeks ago demonstrating some unusual behaviour.

Residents of the Sayward Road, Fowler Road and Cordova Bay Road area to Matticks Farm should be mindful of their surroundings, families and pets, Saanich police said.

B.C. Conservation officers will be in the area today to follow up.
