‘Relative calm’ restored to Nanaimo neighbourhood

Nanaimo RCMP say they restored “relative calm” to a neighbourhood and seized a substantial amount of fentanyl after shutting down a drug house in the central part of the city.

Nanaimo RCMP say they restored “relative calm” to a neighbourhood and seized a substantial amount of fentanyl after shutting down a drug house in the central part of the city.

“The seizure of this amount of fentanyl is huge for our community and equates to approximately 400 usages of this deadly drug, and potentially 400 fatal overdoses,” said Const. Gary O’Brien.

Suspected crystal methamphetamine was also found when a search warrant was carried out about 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

A man and a woman, both 35, were arrested.

Police said the Brechin Road site had been causing ongoing issues for residents, attracting suspicious people and vehicles at all hours.
