The Queen's cousin, Princess Alexandra, is slated to attend centennial celebrations of the Canadian Scottish Regiment (Princess Mary's) in Victoria next month.
The celebrations get under way Oct. 19 with a reception at the Bay Street Armoury.
Princess Alexandra will attend a cadet lunch the following day, as well as a gala dinner at the armoury. She will also attend service at Christ Church Cathedral on Oct. 21 and lay a wreath in Pioneer Square.
The Canadian Scottish is one of four infantry regiments in B.C. and the largest regiment in 39 Brigade. Its original subunit, the 88th Regiment (Victoria Fusiliers) was authorized as a unit of the Canadian Militia on Sept. 3, 1912. The 88th amalgamated with the 50th Regiment (Gordon Highlanders) to form the Canadian Scottish in 1920.
