A 30-year-old woman has been charged after allegedly stealing a purse and punching her victim Tuesday morning at the Comox Centre Mall.

Shannon Taylor identified herself on Facebook as the victim, saying she was just metres from her car when a woman came up behind her, then smiled and said hello.

“I said ‘Hi’ and she reached into my cart and grabbed my purse,” Taylor said. “I grabbed it quick, so she drilled me straight in my nose and mouth.”

The woman managed to get the purse when the strap broke, and ran off.

Comox Valley RCMP Const. Monika Terragni said police were called about 10:40 a.m.

She said bystanders helped keep the suspect from getting away.

“It was pretty good co-operation between witnesses and police,” Terragni said. “They were able to keep eyes on her until police attended and were able to get her into custody.”

Taylor said she has some loose teeth, a puffy lip and a badly twisted knee, but is grateful it wasn’t a senior who was targeted.

Lindsay Rae Logan faces two robbery-related counts.
