Want to chat with the Chief Judge?

On Thursday, as a highlight of B.C. Law Week, Provincial Court Chief Judge Thomas Crabtree will host a live Twitter Town Hall from 1 to 3 p.m.

If you have a question, you’re invited to send a tweet to the chief judge using the hashtag #AskChiefJudge. Questions can also be emailed to TwitterTownHall@provincialcourt.bc.ca. The court has also invited people around the province to tweet what’s going in provincial court on April 14.

During the townhall, Crabtree will answer questions on topics relating to access to justice, the future of the justice system and problem solving courts such as the First Nations court in Duncan and Victoria’s Integrated Court.

“Each of these topics is in the news these days, and each is important to the public, the Court and the Chief Judge,” says a news release about the event.

The Provincial Court wants to engage members of the public in their justice system, Crabtree said in a statement.

“Our recent consultation on online access to criminal court information demonstrated the valuable contribution the public can make to policy decisions. The Twitter Town Hall is another way the Court can engage with the public. I’m looking forward to the conversation on April 14.”
