Police looking for witnesses to stabbing in downtown Victoria early Thursday

Victoria police detectives are asking for witnesses after a man was found stabbed in the city’s downtown early this morning. The victim remains in hospital.

Victoria police detectives are asking for witnesses after a man was found stabbed in the city’s downtown early this morning. The victim remains in hospital.

Patrol officers responded to a report of a man suffering from a stab wound in the area of Quadra Street and Pandora Avenue about 1 a.m. Thursday. He was found to have what were considered serious life-threatening injuries.

Police officers gave emergency first aid at the scene. B.C Emergency Health Services attended and transported the victim to hospital where he remains.

The man’s injuries are now considered non-life-threatening, reported Const. Cam MacIntyre, media relations spokesman, at 9 a.m.

Quadra Street between Pandora and Johnson was closed to traffic until 6 a.m.

Victoria’s forensic identification unit was sent to the scene. Major crime detectives are asking witnesses and anyone with information about this case to call the Victoria Police Department report desk at 250-995-7654, extension 1.
