Victoria police are searching for a man who exposed himself and followed two women on the Galloping Goose trail near the Cecelia Road bridge on Wednesday.

Just before 6 p.m., police received a report of an indecent exposure on the trail.

Officers spoke with a woman who said she had been walking south on the trail and saw a man sitting on a bench. As she walked toward him, she noticed he had his hand in his pants.

“As she passed the man, he exposed himself, stood and began to follow her,” said police spokesman Bowen Osoko.

At this point, a woman on a bicycle rode up and told the woman the man had done the same thing to her. Together, the women left the area with the man following them, Osoko said. They went into a nearby business and called police.

The man is described as white with long brown hair in a ponytail. He is six-feet tall with a slim build and believed to be in his 40s. He was barefoot and wearing a black T-shirt and grey cargo shorts.

Patrol officers searched the area for the man but were unable to find him.

Police would like to speak with the woman on the bike, who left before officers arrived.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Victoria police non-emergency line at 250-995-7654. To report what you know anonymously, call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
