Police are looking for the man who vandalized a controversial piece of art in downtown Victoria on Friday night.

Officers went to Bastion Square around 8 p.m. after receiving a report that part of the artwork — painted letters spelling the words “More justice, more peace” on the pavement — had been covered in spray paint.

The covered portion contained the anti-police acronym ACAB, which stands for All Cops Are Bastards/Bad.

Witnesses told police they saw a man adding the words “9/11 Never Forget” where the acronym had been. The damaged portion of the painting has since been partially repaired.

Police released a photograph of the man, who was wearing a black ball cap, red T-shirt, green camouflage pants and black shoes.
