A pedestrian was hit Monday morning in Saanich as vehicles were diverted off Douglas Street for the Island Farms Victoria Day Parade.

The incident occurred at 8:22 a.m. as an adult male headed northbound on Douglas Street, away from the parade start line at Finlayson Street. He was struck while crossing at Cloverdale Avenue, according to police.

At the time, traffic was being diverted off Douglas Street eastbound on Cloverdale Avenue, prior to the parade’s 9 a.m. start.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
