One person taken to hospital after two semis collide in Nanaimo

Nanaimo RCMP say a 35-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries Wednesday when the transport truck she was driving rear-ended another transport truck about 7:40 a.m. just north of the intersection of Island Highway and Northfield Road.

Nanaimo RCMP say a 35-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries Wednesday when the transport truck she was driving rear-ended another transport truck about 7:40 a.m. just north of the intersection of Island Highway and Northfield Road.

The 71-year-old man driving the other truck was uninjured and co-operated with police.

Both vehicles will have a mechanical inspection.

Northbound lanes were closed for about six and a half hours while investigators examined the scene.

Northbound traffic was rerouted toward Bowen Road, while southbound traffic was not affected.
