The gate stopping traffic near Fort Rodd Hill at the north end of Ocean Boulevard is set to reopen today with the completion of roadwork, giving beach access to vehicles coming from that direction.

But there will still be a median in the middle of Ocean Boulevard that stops traffic for two more weeks, said Colwood Mayor Rob Martin.

The median is in place to discourage large gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Its presence spurred Colwood to conduct an online survey asking the public whether the scenic roadway by Esquimalt Lagoon should stay closed, be closed periodically, or remain fully open.

Martin said more than 3,000 people have taken part so far.

The survey closes June 15. It is at letstalkcolwood.ca/oceanboulevard.
