Oak Bay police are investigating the theft of an expensive bottle of single-malt Scotch whisky from the Cork & Barrel liquor store Monday afternoon.

The bottle of The Macallan No. 6, a “stunning whisky” encased in a Lalique crystal decanter, is valued at $4,637. It was taken from the shelf of the Oak Bay liquor store by a man with a tattoo on his left arm. The man was of medium-build and was wearing a blue ball cap, a grey shirt with a logo, black pants and white Adidas running shoes.

The store manager would not comment on whether she thought the man would drink the fine scotch or try to sell it.

The whisky is described as rich and complex with a unique natural colour and character from first fill sherry seasoned oak casks from Spain. “Rich in spice and dried fruit with a layer of heady orange groves, this is an enticing, dark, whisky that delivers classic Macallan character,” says a website promoting the drink.
