Andrew Berry, charged with murdering his two daughters on Christmas Day, made a brief appearance in Victoria provincial court on Thursday.

Berry, 44, stared straight ahead as he appeared via video from the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre.

He will appear again March 29 as the process for arranging his preliminary hearing proceeds.

Berry is charged with second-degree murder in the deaths of Chloe, 6, and Aubrey, 4. Police found their bodies in Berry’s Beach Drive apartment.

He was hospitalized with self-inflicted injuries and arrested upon his release.

Defence attorney Kevin McCullough has said he would like to see a speedy trial, and that it’s important that the presumption of innocence is considered.
