The Vancouver Island area received 33 new campsites through B.C. Parks last year, but isn’t on the list for 2019.

“Last year, 18 new campsites were added to Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park and 15 sites were added to Montague Harbour on Galiano Island,” B.C. Parks said in a statement. “B.C. Parks is currently in the planning phase of new campsites on Vancouver Island and the sites are expected to be complete next year.”

The Island campsites were among 431 created in 2018.

Around the province, 594 new campsites are being added for this summer in the regions of highest demand — the Lower Mainland, Thompson-Okanagan, Kootenay-Rockies and Mount Robson.

“The province is investing up to $22.9-million to add more than 1,900 new campsites by 2022,” B.C. Parks said.
