A New Westminster man has been arrested in connection with two robberies last week in Langford and a bank robbery in Victoria.

On the afternoon of Sept. 23, a man walked into the Royal Bank in the Westshore Town Centre mall, produced a note and left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

Early on Sept. 25, West Shore RCMP officers found the suspect sleeping in a parked vehicle on Atkins Road. Officers woke the man up, advised him he was under arrest and told him to get out of the car.

The suspect refused and raced toward Victoria with RCMP officers in pursuit. The chase was called off, however, due to concerns for public safety, said RCMP Const. Nancy Saggar.

The car was found abandoned by the Victoria Police Department.

West Shore RCMP advised other local police departments to be on the lookout for the suspect, believed to be a 40-year-old New Westminster man.

Police obtained a warrant for his arrest and issued a media release asking for public assistance.

On Saturday, Victoria police responded to a robbery at the TD bank on Douglas Street just after 11 a.m. Witnesses told investigators that a male suspect pulled out a note and ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured in the robbery.

On Saturday afternoon, West Shore RCMP responded to a robbery at the Tim Hortons on Goldstream Avenue.

Employees told police that a man demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. No weapons were displayed and there was no violence.

That night, Victoria police arrested a suspect in the robberies. Christopher Lee Lamoureux has been charged with two counts of robbery, flight from police and dangerous driving.

He is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
