Tim Doyle took on the job of Nanaimo’s new fire chief on Monday, following the departure of Karen Fry, who now heads up the Vancouver Fire Department.
Doyle has been with the Nanaimo Fire Service for 20 years. He served as assistant chief between 2014 and 2017, when he was appointed deputy chief.
Doyle has overseen construction of the new Fire Station No. 1, recruitment, training, the Vancouver Island Emergency Response Academy and emergency operations, the city said in a statement.
