Nanaimo RCMP continue to investigate a Feb. 3 hit-and-run that left a 37-year-old man in hospital with head lacerations.

Police have released surveillance pictures of the suspect vehicle speeding away.

The collision occurred about 9 p.m. in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven at Fifth Street and Bruce Avenue. People have told police a driver was backing out of a parking stall when the vehicle accelerated forward about nine metres and struck the victim — causing him to flip over the hood and fall to the ground.

The driver did not stop, and the vehicle was seen running the stop sign at Fifth and Bruce before heading south on Bruce.
