Nanaimo man hospitalized after being hit by vehicle in Cedar

A 53-year-old Nanaimo man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries after he was stuck by a vehicle in Cedar. The man was walking with a friend southbound on Cedar Road around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

A 53-year-old Nanaimo man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries after he was stuck by a vehicle in Cedar.

The man was walking with a friend southbound on Cedar Road around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

“For unknown reasons, the victim decided to cross the roadway and in doing so, was struck by a northbound F350 pickup, driven by a 37-year-old Cedar resident,” said Nanaimo RCMP spokesman Const. Gary O’Brien.

The man who was struck was taken to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for treatment.

The driver remained at the scene and co-operated with investigators.

O’Brien said the car was seized for a mechanical inspection. The investigation is continuing.
