The arrest of a Nanaimo man wanted on two counts related to drug trafficking turned up large amounts of drugs and close to $21,000 in cash.
A Nanaimo RCMP officer took the man into custody Jan. 17 after spotting him walking through the parking lot of Port Place Mall while carrying a backpack and a satchel.
A search located the cash along with 259 grams of fentanyl, 13.5 grams of crack cocaine and 5.9 grams of what is suspected to be methamphetamine.
Hundred of plastic baggies, digital scales, two smartphones and a knife were also found.
Terrance Virus, 39, remains in custody and is scheduled for a Feb. 1 court appearance.
