VANCOUVER — Police are asking the public for help in their search for a man who went missing more than a week ago outside Fort Fraser in northern B.C.

Michael Gregory Skene, who goes by his middle name, was last seen on June 9 while leaving the Nautley Store outside Fort Fraser, located near Fraser Lake.

Police said Skene might have been hitchhiking to Vancouver Island.

Skene had been mushroom picking in the Fort Fraser area and had set up camp nearby. His tent has since been found, but Skene and his personal belongings were gone, RCMPsaid.

Search crews have scoured the area by ground and air, but there has been no sign of Skene.

Skene is white, about 6-foot-1 and weighs about 165 pounds. He has blue eyes, brown hair and a slim build.

Anyone who recognizes him is asked to contact Fraser Lake RCMP at 250-699-7777.
