Minor injuries in small-plane crash near Royston beach; pilot, passenger swim to shore

The pilot and passenger aboard a small plane that crashed off Royston’s Gartley Beach Saturday afternoon were able to swim to shore. They were treated for minor injuries by B.C. Ambulance paramedics, CHEK News reported.

The Piper PA-28-140 went down about 3:45 p.m. south of Courtenay and flipped about 30 metres from shore.

The Courtenay Fire Department and Comox Valley RCMP also responded to the crash.
