Mechanical issue leads to cancellations on B.C. Ferries’ Horseshoe Bay-Departure Bay route

A mechanical issue with the Queen of Oak Bay has led to a string of cancelled B.C. Ferries sailings between Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay.

The cancellations began with the 8:25 a.m. sailing from Departure Bay. Also cancelled are the 1 p.m. sailing from Departure Bay, the 3:45 p.m. from Horseshoe Bay and the 5:55 p.m. from Departure Bay.

B.C. Ferries said the problem is with the main engine. “We are working to resolve the issue and we will keep you informed as soon as more information becomes available,” the corporation said. Affected reservations will be automatically cancelled and refunded. — Times Colonist
