Victoria police arrested a man Tuesday morning after two people were threatened with a knife on Wharf Street.
Police were called to the 1300-block of Wharf, near Yates Street, about 10 a.m. for a report that a man had brandished a knife and threatened the victims, who said they were standing in a parking lot near their vehicle when the man approached them.
The victims, who were working in the area, tried to de-escalate the situation but the man became more aggressive and then abruptly left.
Officers found him nearby behind an abandoned building and arrested him.
A search of the man turned up a knife. Because of a previous conviction for stabbing someone, he was on probation with conditions that he not possess weapons.
Charges being recommended against him are assault with a weapon, uttering threats and breach of probation.
