Man who died at Sysco facility was struck by semi-trailer: RCMP

West Shore RCMP are investigating the sudden death of a 25-year-old man at Sysco Victoria’s facility on Amy Road in Langford. Initial reports indicate the victim was hit by a semi-tractor shortly after 4 a.m. and died of his injuries.

Initial reports indicate the victim was hit by a semi-tractor shortly after 4 a.m. and died of his injuries.

Police are in the very early stages of the investigation, said Const. Nancy Saggar.

The identity of the man will not be released at this time. West Shore RCMP is investigation alongside WorkSafe B.C. and the B.C. Coroners Service.

Sysco Victoria began as North Douglas Foodservice Distributors in the late 1970s. It started in Victoria as a distribution company delivering specialty foods to restaurants on Vancouver Island looking for hard-to-find imported grocery products. The business expanded and in 2000 was purchased by Sysco Corporation.

Today, Sysco Victoria services food-service establishments and institutions on Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and Powell River. — Times Colonist
