Man tried to steal a woman's purse in Cordova Bay: police

Saanich police are seeking a man who tried to snatch a woman’s purse when she was parking on Cordova Bay Road. The incident occurred on Feb. 17 as a woman was leaving her car in the 5300 block of Cordova Bay Road.

Saanich police are seeking a man who tried to snatch a woman’s purse when she was parking on Cordova Bay Road.

The incident occurred on Feb. 17 as a woman was leaving her car in the 5300 block of Cordova Bay Road. A man shoved his way inside the vehicle and grabbed her handbag, Victoria Crime Stoppers said in a statement.

The two struggled and the man gave up and ran off. He was last seen heading south.

There were no weapons and the woman was not physically hurt.

It appears the attempted robbery was random. The woman did not know the man.

He is described as white, five feet, nine inches tall, and wearing a brown winter-style tweed jacket and knitted black gloves.

Police are asking for anyone with information or dash camera or security camera footage to get in touch at 250-475-4321.
