Several RCMP officers responded, along with a helicopter from Comox’s 442 Squadron, the Canadian Coast Guard, search-and-rescue teams and the B.C. Coroners Service.

The man was taken to Nanaimo for identification.

The cause of death has not been released, but foul play is not suspected, said Sgt. Kurt Bosnell, acting commander of the North Cowichan/Duncan general-investigation section.

The B.C. Coroners Service is leading the investigation.
