Man's body discovered at Nanaimo car-rental business

A man’s body was discovered in a downtown Nanaimo car-rental business Monday morning, sparking an investigation by Nanaimo RCMP’s serious crime unit and the B.C. Coroners Service.

A man’s body was discovered in a downtown Nanaimo car-rental business Monday morning, sparking an investigation by Nanaimo RCMP’s serious crime unit and the B.C. Coroners Service.

The body was found between two cars in the parking lot of Budget Car Rental at 33 Terminal Ave. by a customer around 8 a.m.

The customer called the RCMP and Mounties and the coroner arrived on scene.

The investigation is still in the preliminary stages, said Nanaimo RCMP spokesman Const. Gary O’Brien.

The age of the deceased has not been released and police have not said if the death is considered suspicious. Investigators will also look at whether exposure was a factor, as temperatures dropped to about -6C with a windchill of -10C.
