Man on outing with family threatened with knife in Beacon Hill Park

Victoria police have arrested a man who allegedly brandished a knife at another man on a family outing in Beacon Hill Park Saturday.

Police would like to talk to anyone who witnessed the incident at the washroom near the playground around 2 p.m.

The victim and his family, which included a child in a stroller, ran away and called police.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police found a suspect nearby and arrested him. He was taken to the Victoria police jail and held in custody. He is now being investigated for possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

Police are recommending charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon and breaching the conditions of his release.
