Update: Man who walked away from Victoria halfway house arrested in Nanaimo

Update: Jesse Wayne Goodale, who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant after walking away from Victoria’s Salvation Army residential facility, has been arrested. RCMP said Goodale was arrested about noon on Wednesday and held in custoday overnight.

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued by Corrections Service Canada for 29-year-old Jesse Wayne Goodale after he walked away from from Victoria's Salvation Army halfway house, where he was living after being released from prison.

RCMP said Goodale was arrested about noon on Wednesday and held in custoday overnight. He is scheduled to appear in Nanaimo provincial court today.

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a man who walked away from Victoria’s Salvation Army residential facility.

Jesse Wayne Goodale arrived at the halfway house July 4 and left about 9 p.m. July 22. He was serving a four-year, 10-month sentence for aggravated assault prior to being released to the Salvation Army site.

His statutory release has been suspended.

Nanaimo RCMP said Goodale has friends and family in Nanaimo and there is a strong chance he is there or will be heading there.

He is described as Indigenous, five-foot-11 and 220 pounds with short dark hair, brown eyes and a goatee. He has a number of tattoos, including one on his left hand that says WEED and M.H. and a crown on his right hand.

He has an MOB tattoo on his right leg and a chest tattoo that reads MICHELLE HAMM MEMORIAL PIECE.
