Man charged with arson following fire at Evergreen Terrace housing complex

Charges have been in laid in relation to a fire at the Evergreen Terrace housing complex on Blanshard Street last Friday. Police were called around 4 a.m.

Charges have been in laid in relation to a fire at the Evergreen Terrace housing complex on Blanshard Street last Friday.

Police were called around 4 a.m. to respond to a dispute in the housing complex on Blanshard Street between Bay Street and Hillside Avenue. Officers discovered the fire at a unit that had several people inside.

Police were able to get everyone out safely and evacuated several surrounding units as the fire spread.

Some residents have been relocated due to fire damage.

Quadra Village Community Centre is collecting donations to support families who have been affected by the fire.

Murray Sam appeared in court Tuesday, facing three charges: arson damaging property, arson in relation to inhabited property and assault causing bodily harm.
