Man assaulted Thursday in Campbell River dies of his injuries

A 60-year-old man assaulted outside a bank in Campbell River on Thursday has died. The man was assaulted shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday outside the Royal Bank on Shopper’s Row and was taken to hospital by B.C. Ambulance paramedics.

A 60-year-old man assaulted outside a bank in Campbell River on Thursday has died.

The man was assaulted shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday outside the Royal Bank on Shopper’s Row and was taken to hospital by B.C. Ambulance paramedics.

While at the hospital, the victim’s condition deteriorated significantly. Police said he died on Saturday.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this time,” said Const. Maury Tyre. “As police, our job is to ensure that this investigation is professional and thorough, as such we will not be releasing further details at this time.”

Campbell River RCMP and B.C. Coroners Service are investigating.
