Man assaulted at bus stop near Uptown

An unprovoked assault at a bus stop near Uptown shopping centre Sunday night is being investigated by Saanich police. Police are asking the public to help identify a suspect. About 6 p.m.

An unprovoked assault at a bus stop near Uptown shopping centre Sunday night is being investigated by Saanich police.

Police are asking the public to help identify a suspect.

About 6 p.m. Sunday on Douglas Street, just north of Saanich Road beside Uptown Centre, a man was waiting for the northbound Route No. 50 bus when he was struck by another male, said police.

The male suspect boarded a busy B.C. Transit bus.

The victim received non-life-threatening injuries and was later released from hospital, said police.

Investigators are asking other witnesses to the assault to come forward.
