Man arrested after theft from community mailbox in Langford

West Shore RCMP tracked down a 30-year-old man early Monday after a report of a theft in progress at a community mailbox on Station Avenue in Langford. A witness contacted police about 12:20 a.m. and gave them a good description of the suspect.

The arrest of the 30-year-old man May 10 followed a search carried out by the West Shore RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit at a residential Langford property on Moyes Road, near Treanor Avenue.

West Shore RCMP tracked down a 30-year-old man early Monday after a report of a theft in progress at a community mailbox on Station Avenue in Langford.

A witness contacted police about 12:20 a.m. and gave them a good description of the suspect.

The man was arrested on a number of charges, including mischief under $5,000, theft from mail and resisting arrest. He was also found to be breaching a court-ordered curfew.

The stolen mail was recovered and will be returned to Canada Post.
