The arrest of the 30-year-old man May 10 followed a search carried out by the West Shore RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit at a residential Langford property on Moyes Road, near Treanor Avenue.

West Shore RCMP arrested a man found inside a Langford house Wednesday after a resident returned home to find a vehicle in their driveway and an open bedroom window.

The homeowner suspected someone was inside the Falcon Heights Road house and called police shortly before 9 p.m.

Officers determined the 28-year-old man found inside knew the homeowner, and that he was wanted for breaching multiple court orders.

The RCMP's Vancouver Island Emergency Response Team, including crisis negotiators and canine units, were called in because the man had a history of convictions related to firearms charges and flight from police.

Police contained the area around the home. The man was taken into custody about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, and found to be in possession of a crossbow, a violation of a court order that bans him from possessing weapons.

He is in custody and was set to appear in court Thursday, facing charges of breaking-and-entering and possessing weapons.
