Man arrested after rifle allegedly fired in Malahat campground

A 42-year-old man was arrested by West Shore RCMP after allegedly firing a rifle while in a Malahat campground. Police received several reports Sunday about a man with a firearm outside a trailer at the campground.

A 42-year-old man was arrested by West Shore RCMP after allegedly firing a rifle while in a Malahat campground.

Police received several reports Sunday about a man with a firearm outside a trailer at the campground. There were further reports the firearm had been fired.

Several officers responded due to the high-risk nature of the incident. The man was taken into to custody and no one was injured.

He was later apprehended under the Mental Health Act and put in medical care.

The investigation is continuing and charges are being considered.
