Victoria police officeres, supported by the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, made an arrest after a five-hour standoff.
A man wanted on several warrants barricaded himself inside a Johnson Street housing facility on Wednesday afternoon. The warrants include failing to comply with a probation order related to assault with a weapon and drug-trafficking offences.
Officers located the man about noon but he refused to give himself up. After considerable negotiation, he surrendered about 5 p.m.
Traffic in the 800 block of Johnson, between Blanshard and Quadra streets, was disrupted during the incident.
